A certain library in Zhejiang

Project Overview

This project is a modern library with a "frame-core tube" structure. The architectural appearance centers on a minimalist modern style, creating a stable and futuristic visual effect through the combination of dark vertical structural frames and transparent glass curtain walls. To meet the client's high requirements for building durability, stain resistance, and visual uniformity, a high-performance fluorocarbon coating system was ultimately selected for the project, applied to the concrete structures and metal decorative components on the building's exterior.

Coating Selection and Technical Advantages

1. Core Materials

• Concrete Substrate: A supporting system of epoxy sealing primer + epoxy micaceous iron intermediate paint + fluorocarbon topcoat is selected

• Metal Components: A supporting system of epoxy primer + epoxy micaceous iron intermediate paint + fluorocarbon topcoat is selected

2. Technical Highlights

• Superior Weather Resistance: The C-F bonds in the molecular structure of fluorocarbon resin have extremely high bond energy, which can resist long-term UV radiation and ensure that the coating does not show significant chalking or fading within 20 years.

• Self-Cleaning and Stain Resistance: The coating surface has extremely low surface tension, allowing rainwater to form a complete water film that washes away dust, effectively reducing dust accumulation and stain adhesion, and lowering the later maintenance costs of the building.

• Excellent Adhesion: The epoxy primer has excellent adhesion to both concrete and metal substrates, firmly locking the substrate to avoid coating cracking or peeling caused by temperature differences or structural micro-deformation.

Key Construction Processes

• Substrate Preparation: The concrete surface is shot-blasted to remove laitance and impurities, and epoxy putty is used to level holes and defects; metal components are sandblasted to achieve Sa2.5 rust removal standard, ensuring a clean and flat substrate.

• Primer Application: The epoxy primer is uniformly applied using high-pressure airless spraying, with a dry film thickness of ≥80μm, forming a dense barrier to prevent moisture and salt from penetrating the substrate.

• Topcoat Application: The fluorocarbon topcoat is applied in two coats, with a total dry film thickness of ≥150μm. During construction, the ambient temperature (5-35℃) and humidity (≤85%) are strictly controlled, and a wet film thickness gauge is used for real-time monitoring to ensure uniform coating thickness.

• Quality Inspection: After completion, multiple indicators such as adhesion cross-cut test, impact resistance test, and color difference test are verified, and all test results are superior to national standards.
